- 1 ไร่ (rai) = 4 งาน (ngan) = 400 ตารางวา (square wa) = 1,600 m². 1 งาน = 100 ตารางวา = 400 m², and 1 ตารางวา = 4 m² because 1 วา (wa) is exactly 2 metres.
- Land title deeds (โฉนด) write areas as ไร่–งาน–ตารางวา, e.g. 2-1-35.5. Use the ไร่ · งาน · วา tab to enter a deed area and see it in square metres, acres or hectares.
- In Thailand land is usually priced per ตารางวา; the land price box multiplies any price-per-unit by the total area.
Measuring a plot
- The Shape tab works out the area from side lengths in metres, วา, feet or other units.
- Uneven plot (4 sides) averages opposite sides — a common quick estimate that is only exact for rectangles. For an accurate figure on an irregular plot, split it into triangles and add them up, or rely on the surveyed area on the deed.
